Ringier Axel Springer Slovakia presents modern integrated Newsroom

A modern Newsroom has been launched on 7th November 2011 by multimedia publishing house Ringier Axel Springer Slovakia. The Newsroom is integrating the editorial offices of Nový Čas; the Saturday´s supplement Nový Čas víkend, the weekly Nový Čas Nedeľa, the monthly Nový Čas špeciál Krížovky and content online products Čas.sk, Váš.Čas.sk, Lesk.sk, Adam.sk and Tivi.sk.

Ringier Axel Springer Slovakia has been preparing the project Newsroom for more than 15 months. New technologies were implemented and editorial offices were reconstructed after deep analyses of all editorial processes.

Editorial offices of Nový Čas were integrated into the complete open space. The central point of Newsroom is the so-called “decision centre” and a huge screen consisting of 12 large monitors with HD resolution. The editorial office can constantly follow the newspaper production process, the updated graphs and diagrams of Čas.sk website traffic and other web pages, current structure of the web Čas.sk as well as selected television stations.

“Within the Newsroom latest technologies will be used by the editorial office. They have been using the editorial system Woodwing since September 2011, editors are being equipped with more powerful computers, notebooks, monitors; they are receiving new smart phones and cameras, the equipment of the video team has been streamlined for future production of higher quality videos. All technologies for publishing print titles are closely linked to CMS (Content Management System) in order to publish on Čas.sk and all its subsections. Editors are able to publish any content very quickly and with the support of automated systems – text, pictures, video or audio across all titles,” said Marián Pavel, Online Media Director, who has been leading the Newsroom project in the past 15 months.

“The brand Nový Čas has started to produce the content in the very modern multimedia Newsroom in Slovakia. We believe that this step will contribute to the fact that more than one million readers we address daily, will return to us every day for exclusive information, advices and fun,” said Júlia Kováčová, the editor-in-chief of Newsroom.

120 employees are currently working in the Newsroom. These are employees of the previous editorial office of the daily Nový Čas, the Saturday’s supplement Nový Čas víkend, the weekly Nový Čas Nedeľa, the monthly Nový Čas špeciál Krížovky and of content online editorial offices Čas.sk, Váš.Čas.sk, Lesk.sk, Adam.sk and Tivi.sk which were also integrated into one editorial office.
